Why I’m Running

I’m running for Tempe City Council because Tempe isn’t just where I live, it’s part of what has made me who I am.

My passion for service began as a child at Grace Community Church, grew at Kyrene Middle School where I was the student body president, and continued through my participation on Tempe’s Mayor Youth Advisory Commission while attending KMS and Corona de Sol. Years later, I returned to KMS as a parent and became the PTO President, because life really does come full circle sometimes.

After graduation from Corona, I moved to Texas to attend TCU and spent 20 years living in other states and countries. Upon my return to Tempe in 2016, I started a small business and threw myself into community organization and political activism. Throughout my many years of leadership and volunteerism, I have devoted myself to making Tempe a place where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.

As a single mom and a renter, I know firsthand that affordable housing isn't just a buzzword. When we talk about affordable housing, it’s more than just policy - it’s a life or death issue affecting real people. It’s the voices of our neighbors as we struggle with rising costs and inflation. It’s balancing a desire to stay in the city we love while being priced out due to rent increases.

We all know Tempe has limited buildable space. That means we have to be smart about how we grow, but we must grow with purpose, fairness, and compassion. We need development that works within zoning laws and our voter-approved 2050 General Plan, prioritizes affordability, and keeps Tempe accessible to everyone.

One of my core values has always been advocating for the underrepresented. Whether it’s children, families, small business owners, renters, or those in our community who just feel left out of decisions, I'm here to listen, to fight the status quo, and to serve.

I’m running to be a public servant - someone who prioritizes transparency in government and builds bridges between City Hall and the community - so your voices don’t get lost in the process.

This campaign isn’t about me - it’s about us. It’s about our families and what they need to thrive. It’s about making Tempe a place where we can raise our kids, where we can afford to live, and where our elected representatives listen when we speak.

So let’s do this together. Let’s build a Tempe that works for everyone.
